Civil Society VI Grant Scheme application deadline is extended to 25 September 2017!

On 30 June, the European Commission launched a EUR 2,500,000 call for proposals aiming at supporting Civil Society Organisation (CSO) capacity building, sustainability, effectiveness, transparency and accountability; to reinforce CSO involvement and impact in policy-making and actions in the public interest; and to strengthen CSO cooperation with other stakeholders to jointly tackle societal needs.

The deadline for submission of proposals (concept note) is 25 September 2017, 17:00 Cyprus local time.

The sixth "Cypriot Civil Society in action" call for proposals targets these objectives by:

- Strengthening the organisational capacities, outreach and impact of civil society in promoting and defending democracy, fundamental rights and freedoms, cultural diversity and reconciliation;

-  Reinforcing Partnerships, Cooperation and Networking across Cyprus and/or with CSOs from other EU Member States to jointly address societal needs.

The call represents a unique opportunity for Civil Society Organisations to reinforce their capacity, actions and cooperation and make a change for the benefit of all. Projects to be supported will range from EUR 100,000 to EUR 350,000 for a two to three year implementation period.

In the first instance only concept notes would have to be submitted. Applicants whose concept notes have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application. The deadline for submission of proposals (concept note) is 25 September 2017, 17:00 Cyprus local time.

Youth Building Peace
European Commission Supported International Youth Day Events

The European Commission supported a series of events organised by HASDER and EU Infopoint as part of International Youth Day (12 August) celebrations.  This year the focus was on the active role that youth can play in building peace. On 12 August, the representatives of the youth organisations discussed young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace at a round table at the EU Infopoint. The scale and challenges of sustaining peace requires partnerships between stakeholders, including youth organizations. Youth can play a part in deterring and resolving conflicts, and are key constituents in ensuring the success of both peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts. On 15 August the "Akamas" film screening took place at HASDER Institute. The series of events ended with the traditional "Bike Tour" in the Walled City of Nicosia on 19 August at Selimiye Square.
The 2nd Open Door Festival is coming SOON!

The Open Door Festival aims to increase the visibility and transparency of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and to promote active citizenship, volunteerism and philanthropy.
