The awards were presented to the winning schools during an award ceremony held at Necati Taşkın Primary School Sports Hall on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, between 14:30 and 16:00.
Speaking at the award ceremony with the participation of winning students, teachers and school principals, the Deputy Director and Head of Unit for Cyprus Settlement Support Unit at the European Commission Mr. Kjartan Björnsson, emphasised the importance of the laboratory and equipment facilities provided to 48 primary and 46 secondary schools as well as the mobile laboratory as part of the EU Aid Program for the Turkish Cypriot community. Björnsson stated thatsuch EU initiatives demonstrate the commitment that the European Union is here to support innovation and research in the Turkish Cypriot community.
This year is the European Year of Skills and the European Union is committed to improving the skills of everyone in Europe. The use of the school labs and the mobile lab on wheels will continue to improve students’ knowledge and learning experience; and to inspire students to think about careers in science and innovation.
