A Statement of Condolence by Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira Regarding the Earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria 

I would like to express my deep sadness and sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the terrible earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria. Our hearts ache for the Turkish Cypriot teenagers from Famagusta who were in Adıyaman for a sports event, and lost their lives.

The EU Scholarship Programme for the Turkish Cypriot Community 2023/24 
The EU Scholarship Programme for the Turkish Cypriot Community is currently accepting applications for the academic year 2023/24.
With a budget of €5 million, this programme will continue to provide opportunities in different areas and levels of education, training and professional development for the Turkish Cypriot community in the European Union.  
The programme aims to contribute to boost economic development and support the EU's efforts to upskill and reskill the workforce. With an emphasis on fields such as software engineering and sustainable energy technology, the scholarship programme will help participants
develop in-demand skills and provide a valuable contribution to the 2023 European Year of Skills.

The application deadline is 2 April 2023, and all interested applicants can apply online via the EU Scholarships website. Do not miss this opportunity to invest in your future!

Women Making a Difference with EU Support Video Series

In celebration of International Women's Day, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new video series, "Women Making a Difference with EU Support." This inspiring series features the stories of women who have received support from the European Union to make a positive impact in their communities. From entrepreneurs creating jobs in their local economies to activists fighting for human rights, these women are leading the way in driving social and economic progress. The videos showcase the transformative power of EU programs and initiatives in promoting gender equality and empowering women to take charge of their futures. We hope these stories will inspire others to pursue their dreams.

mBot2 Trainings: 21-23 February 2023

The winners of “Going Further with Science” 1st short video competition were rewarded with an mBot2 Steam education kit which allows students to carry out interactive and smart lessons that are engaging, fun and reflecting real-world applications with new technologies, including robotics, AI, IoT and Data Science. The education kit was provided along

with one day training by CYPRobotics founder Tezel Celebi. The trainings started with a 15 min information session delivered by Derya Tangul, EUIP Public Space and Information Officer, about EUIP, and aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community specifically providing information on the opportunities for youth.

 

Application Deadline Extended for the 3rd “Going Further with Science – Experiments” short video competition 


In the light of the events in the region, the application deadline for the third in the series of “Going Further with Science” short video competitions held under the theme of “Experiments” is now extended to 16 March 2023, Thursday 17:00.
The “Going Further with Science” short video competition series are organised with the support of the European Commission, as part of the European Research and Innovation Days targeting primary, secondary, high school and vocational school students.
The students can participate in the competition by submitting their videos consisting of images and explanations of an experiment that they prefer, explaining how they can benefit from the laboratory / workshop by using the experiment kits and equipment already in their school laboratories and / or workshops, and dealing with topics under Science and Technology, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Curriculum.

  • City Garden Workshop (25 March 2023)
    Join us for the City Garden Workshop on 25 March, Saturday from 11:00 - 13:00 at Nilüfer Park in Köşklüçiftlik/Nicosia. This fun and educational workshop for children (aged 5+) and their families will explore the importance of gardens in increasing bee populations and ways to create and maintain a garden in the city. Led by experienced trainer Christina Louca, this is a wonderful opportunity to teach your children the joys of gardening and make a positive impact on the environment. Don't miss out!
 
3rd "Going Further with Science - Experiments" short video competition Award Ceremony (29 March 2023)
The award ceremony for the third in the series of four short video competitions, entitled “Going Further with Science” organised with the support of the European Commission, as part of the European Research and Innovation Days involving primary, secondary, high school and vocational school students will take place on 29 March 2023. 
 
  • European Year of Skills Workshop Series: Digital and Soft Skills for the Future
    Introducing the "Digital Skills for the Future" workshop series, a set of workshops designed to shed light on the crucial role that digital skills will play in future job prospects and promote a more sustainable world. The 2023 "European Year of Skills" initiative acknowledges the shift from conventional skills to digital skills in the labour market. In this workshop series, participants will delve into some of the key digital and soft skills that will be highly sought after in the future, with a specific emphasis on sustainability and the environment.
