Green Jobs For A Greener Future Seminar in Nicosia

The European Commission highlighted the concept of green jobs with a “Green Jobs for a Greener Future” seminar as part of Green Week 2017 on 7 July from at Merit Hotel, Nicosia. The event aimed to generate discussion about opportunities, implementation and policies in the EU and in the Turkish Cypriot community on green jobs and green skills. After the opening speech by Mr.Alessandro Bianciardi, EU Expert Dr.Bela Galgoczi and local speakers Tamer Zaim, Gülcan Yalınca, Bahri Türkmen and Yasemin Çobanoğlu made presentations about EU’s environmental policies and how they are creating green jobs and best practices, local green job opportunities in the energy sector and green skills, EU-funded awareness raising on green economy for civil engineers project, education of young people on energy efficient buildings and providing employment opportunities and local green job opportunities in the environment sector and green skills. The event was organised in partnership with Chamber of Civil Engineers, Chamber of Environmental Engineers, Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, and Union of Chamber of Architects and Engineers.
