European Youth Media Days

The Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus in cooperation with the EU Infopoint hosted this year’s European Youth Media Days with a photojournalism workshop and launch of the Human Rights Photojournalism Competition on 6 November 2015 at the EU Infopoint.

The European Youth Media Days are the first Europe-wide forum that involves, connects, informs and encourages young media makers to be in the heart of the European integration process.

The workshop which was implemented by the Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) was open to young people aged 18-35. The workshop aimed to shed light on the issue of human rights as a universal theme, train participants in how to approach the topic of human rights and how to choose their subject/s and provide technical training in photography and writing.

The European Youth Media Days provide a platform for young journalists to tackle a wide variety of issues that exist within the EU including human rights, unity, and austerity in the EU – some of the themes from previous years. One of the most vital ideas of the European Youth Media Days is the creation and the enforcement of a Europe-wide network of young emerging journalists.
