European Mobility Week Celebrations in September! 
 
The European Commission marked European Mobility Week 2015 with a series of activities in the Turkish Cypriot community. These events, organised by the EU Infopoint, aimed to inform participants about the importance of choosing from a range of efficient and sustainable transportation options; as well as highlighting the sustainable transportation approaches of the EU and the Turkish Cypriot community.
No Car Day event took place at Atatürk Square in the walled city in Nicosia on 19 September with a variety of activities, which included bicycle tours, walking tours, mobility information stands, and a treasure hunt. Mr.George Markopouliotis, Ms.Michela Foresti and Mr.Mehmet Harmancı lead the public in the first bicycle tour.

European Mobility Week Press Conference
This year's European Mobility Week theme and activities were announced to the press at a press conference on 15 September. The importance of the Mobility Week was highlighted at the press conference. The European Mobility Week and Do the Right Mix promote sustainable urban mobility.  This year’s theme of multimodality encourages people to think about the range of transport options available, and to choose the right mode when travelling. 
Panel on Sustainable Transport and Mobility
Sustainable Transport and Mobility in the EU and in the Turkish Cypriot community was discussed at a panel on 21 September at the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Nicosia. The EU and local experts discussed policies on transport, sustainable transportation, mobility in the EU, road safety, and the environment. The EU's primary goals for a competitive and resource efficient transport system were emphasized by the EU experts in the panel.
European Researchers Night Gala Event held in the Turkish Cypriot community for the first time!
The European Commission marked this year’s European Researchers Night 2015 with a gala event at Bedestan, Nicosia on Tuesday 29 September, where researchers shared their latest research projects and highlighted how science can make a difference in our daily lives. This year was the 10th year anniversary of the European Researchers Night, which was celebrated in over 300 cities in 24 European countries. The gala event at Bedesten, organised by the EU Infopoint, was a first time opportunity for researchers from the Turkish Cypriot community to showcase their work in science and innovation.
