The Rural Women Tours' first stop was at Gaziveren/Gaziveran with the participation of more than 80 people and experts who shared information about the EU policy on rural development, structural funds, smart specialization, technical assistance projects and professional development opportunities as part of EU Scholarships and success stories by EU grantees. Mehmetçik/Galatya
The rural tour ended in Mehmetçik/Galatya with a very productive discussion involving the participation of the region's women who are ambitious in setting up small businesses with the support of the European Union. The topics were presented by Bernard Musyck, Dilek Behçetoğulları, Bilgehan Kayalar, Tevfik Kırımlı, Burcu Mahmutoğlu and Latife Turganer.
We were on the road for the Rural Women's Tours with our specially designed EU Infopoint car. We may soon visit your region too. Keep a look out for us!
"Magical Concert with the Untouchable Instrument"
A “Magical Concert with the Untouchable Instrument” took place on Sunday, 17 January at 18:00-19:30 in Nicosia at Levent College’s Concert Hall. The concert featured the Dutch soloist Thorwald Jorgensen, who was brought to Cyprus by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the LTB Orchestra.
Mr. Jorgensen is one of the most important exponents of classical music on the Theremin.  The theremin is a musical instrument invented in 1920 by Russian physicist Léon Theremin; this peculiar electronic musical instrument, which incorporates two metal rods, is played using the fingers without touching it and produces a bewitching sound with string and human voice qualities.
More than 200 spectators experienced a unique evening with the melodies of this magical instrument. The aim of the concert was to promote European culture and provide the Turkish Cypriot community with an opportunity to experience a rare and unique performance.
