Equal Pay for Equal Work - Inclusive Growth for All

The European Commission highlighted the importance of reducing the gender pay gap during an “Equal Pay for Equal Work - Inclusive Growth for All” panel on 9 March at the EU Programme Support Office (EUPSO), Nicosia. The aim of the event was to generate discussion about equal pay for equal work and the strategies to reduce the gender pay gap. After the opening speeches by Mr.George Markopouliotis and Mr.Erçin Tekakpınar and the keynote speech by Mr.Timo Heino, the EU policy and examples from Europe were presented at the event. The event hosted Prof.Berrin Ataman, who highlighted the EU policy and strategy to overcome the gender pay gap, effects on the labour market and economy, and best practices from EU countries. In addition to this, Mr.Yusuf Önderol delivered a presentation on local implementations and recommendations. Ms.Hare Yakula from the Gender Equality Platform spoke about the activities of the gender equality platform. Finally, Ms.Işın Ramadan Cemil delivered a speech on her experiences from the business community.
