Europe Day 2018 Celebrations took place in Nicosia!

As part of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, the European Commission celebrated the importance of cultural heritage, music, arts as well as unity, at Europe Day celebrations which took place on 26 May, Saturday at Selimiye Square, Nicosia.
The opening speeches of the event were made by Ms.Mary McCarthy, Mr.Özdil Nami and Mr.Cemal Özyiğit. 
During the event, information about EU countries, and various EU supported projects were provided. The event also included live music performances, and various activities. Participants obtained information about EU countries such as Ireland, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands and Spain. Moreover, they also had the opportunity to taste local food of these countries. Several local NGOs, organizations and technical assistance projects showcased their own EU funded projects and shared information. 
A diverse performance programme was planned for the Europe Day Fair in Nicosia. A variety of groups gave European jazz, funk and classical/pop music concerts and provided dance and song performances. Additionally, children enjoyed a puppet show, face painting, and rock climbing.
