Europe Day 2017 Celebrated in Nicosia!
Europe Day 2017 was celebrated with enthusiasm during the event organised by the European Commission on 20 May at Selimiye Square, Nicosia. The event highlighted the theme of "United in Diversity" and the visitors had the opportunity to experience original tastes at the various EU Member States stands such as Germany, Finland, France, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Poland. They also had the chance to get information at the stands of EU-funded projects about the role of the EU in the Turkish Cypriot community's development. In addition to the LTB Latin Orchestra, Hot Club of Cyprus, Nihan Görgü Trio ve Colours Duo latin, pop and jazz music concerts, Yeni Erenköy High School Dance Group, Studio 21 and Folkder performed modern, hip hop and folk dances. HASDER Children's Chorus also performed various songs. After the opening speeches by Mr.George Markopouliotis and Mr.Mehmet Harmancı, the results of the "United in Diversity" poster competition announced and the top 3 winners at each category received their presents. Europe Day 2017 will be celebrated at Namık Kemal Square, Famagusta on 10 June between 10:00 and 14:00. Let's celebrate Europe Day 2017 together this time in Famagusta!
