Connecting SMEs to Opportunities for European SME Week

The European Commission marked European SME Week with the “Innovative Enterprises” event on Thursday, 26th November at Bedestan in Nicosia. The event, organized by the EU Infopoint, will included expert speeches on investments, entrepreneurship, smart specialization and structural funds, opportunities for innovative enterprises, small business support programme, and research and development practices, EU support for private sector development.  Various businesses, CSOs and universities also hosted information stands.

The aim of the event was to improve awareness about European SME Week, to help existing entrepreneurs find information on available support, and to encourage more people to set up their own businesses. The event also aimed to provide inspiration about smart specialisations and innovative practices for the Turkish Cypriot community regarding entrepreneurship. 

The European SME Week is a pan-European campaign that aims to promote entrepreneurship in Europe. It helps existing entrepreneurs find information on available support and tries to encourage more people to set up their own businesses. Coordinated by the European Commission, this campaign consists of events throughout the whole year.
